With your help, hell take down The Joker's Dozen!

MY TAKE:
If you like choose-your-own adventure books, chances are, you'll like this one even if you aren't a Batman fan.

In The Joker's Dozen, readers follow Batman as he chases after The Joker who has turned people into Joker replicas using his laughing gas. Readers initially have three choices, and from there, they can end up with one of twelve endings.

I tried all three of the choices from where the story branches out. All three stories I read were action-packed, but the third one, which probably had the least amount of action was my favorite. It was the one that made me laugh the most, even though I don't think it actually meant to be funny. I'd tell you more, but that would ruin one of the plot twists.

The only thing that would have been better for me if there were more illustrations to break the monotony of the text. The only illustrations I saw were at the start of the book, which psyched me up for the rest of the book but I would have appreciated some more drawings somewhere in the middle of each story.

Thanks to NetGalley and Stone Arch Books for the e-ARC.

THE GOOD:

  1. Each story is action-packed.
  2. You can read the book several times and get different stories each time.
  3. Batman and the other characters act the way you'd expect them to.

THE BAD:

  1. There are some corny jokes.

READ IT IF:

  1. Your child likes Batman.
  2. Your child likes choose-your-own-adventure books.
  3. You want your comic-book-loving child to read more regular books.
