MY TAKE:
I'm more of a baker than a cook so this one was right up my alley.

In Custom Confections Delicious Desserts You Can Create and Enjoy, readers are shown various recipes that are easy to bake and fun to do.

I don't really have a lot of time to spare these days, so I'm always on the look out for easy recipes. The recipes in this book seemed simple enough and I can see how young kids would be able to do these recipes with minimal adult supervision.

Some of the recipes use mixes so as long as you're okay with taking shortcuts or adding a few ingredients of your own to make the final product taste less like it was made from a cake mix, this book will work for you. I was actually thinking of working on the tiramisu but I couldn't find my mascarpone. Everything in the book looks delicious, though, even if some of them are super simple. One example of a simple recipe is one for dunked and dipped treats, wherein you basically melt some chocolate melting wafers, dip the treats in the melted chocolate, then dip it again in sprinkles and other confections.

Thanks to NetGalley and Capstone Young Readers for the e-ARC. Publication date of Custom Confections Delicious Desserts You Can Create and Enjoy is on September 1, 2014.

  1. It would be nice if there were even more recipes included.

Beat the sorbet and ice cream with an electric mixer to make them easier to spread.
